Alicante city is the capital of the Alicante province, in the region of Valencia in south eastern Spain. Once a strategic Mediterranean port, it is now one of the most renowned and admired towns on the Costa Blanca. With a population of around 340000, Alicante is an important economic centre with its wealth coming mainly from agriculture, fishing, trade and tourism. The sunny climate of Alicante is another reason for its huge popularity.
